Groups and Camps

Bluestone offers various camps and groups throughout the year that target various social and emotional skills. All camps are offered in the summer and at a private pay rate only. All groups are offered throughout the year and insurance is billed for these services. Currently there are speech and language and occupational therapy groups.

Happy Kids Huddle

Camp Bluestone

Camp Bluestone is a multidisciplinary, inclusion camp for children ages 4 to 7 years with a variety of medical diagnoses. This 1-week camp is held for 3-hours per day and is led by qualified speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. Children have the opportunity to practice their skills alongside peers with the support and guidance of a multidisciplinary team. Activities incorporate a different theme each day incorporating circle time activities, crafts, snack, sensory-motor games, outside play, STEM tasks, songs, shared book reading and more.

Camp Talk it UP!

Camp Talk It Up is a multidisciplinary, inclusion camp for children ages 4 to 7 years with a qualifying speech sound diagnosis, including articulation, phonological or motor speech disorders. This 1-week camp is held for 3-hours per day and is led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Attendees can practice their skills alongside peers with the support and guidance of speech-language pathologists using variety of therapeutic approaches, i.e. traditional approach to articulation, complexity approach, DTTC, minimal pairs, PROMPT, etc. Children receive daily one-on-one individual and group treatment sessions within the camp schedule. Activities incorporate a different theme each day incorporating circle time activities, crafts, snack time, sensory-motor games, outside play, shared book reading and more.

STEAM Team

STEAM Team is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming pragmatic language group for children 8 to 10 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 16-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include peer engagement, self-advocacy, problem solving and growth mindset. Activities are based on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) concepts in a fun and enriching setting to foster creativity.

Extrodinary Engineers

Extraordinary Engineers is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming pragmatic language group for children 8 to 12 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 16-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include peer engagement, self-advocacy, perspective-taking, problem solving and growth mindset. Activities are based on the engineering process, including designing, crafting and sequencing.

Lego League is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming pragmatic language group for children 6 to 10 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 16-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include peer engagement, self-advocacy, problem solving and growth mindset. Activities are based on child-led interests with engineering and math concepts using building toys.

Social Scientists

Social Scientists is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming pragmatic language group for children 6 to 8 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 16-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include peer engagement, self-advocacy, problem solving and growth mindset. Activities are based on scientific experiments using chemistry and physical science concepts to make predictions, explore curiosity and build connections.

Small Talk

Small Talk is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming speech-language and pragmatic group for children 2 ½ to 5 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 10-week group is held once weekly for 60 minutes per session led by a certified speech-language pathologist specialized in developmental approaches to language acquisition. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include self-regulation, shared attention, peer engagement and self-advocacy. Themes change weekly, and children will engage in enriching and motivating activities, such as circle time with music and movement, sensory play, shared reading and more.

Butterfly

Social Butterflies

Social Butterflies is a play-based, neurodiversity affirming pragmatic language group for children 3 to 6 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 16-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include peer engagement, self-advocacy, turn-taking, cooperative play and reciprocal interaction. Activities are structured to build early pragmatic skills and interacting with peers in a fun, engaging way.

Story Champs

Story Champs is a narrative-based, multi-tiered language program in a group setting for children 4 to 6 years with a qualifying speech-language diagnosis. The 12-week group is held once weekly for 30 minutes per session led by qualified speech-language pathologists. Each child’s individual goals are targeted amongst peers with one-on-one individual instruction incorporated into each session. Goals may include answering questions, recalling events, making predictions, solving problems and generating stories. Activities are structured to increase knowledge of sequence of events and key story elements.

Building a Robot

Building Connections

Building Connections group therapy opportunity was created by a speech language pathologist and occupational therapist to work together to target executive functioning skills, sequencing tasks, social emotional skills, and conversational skills. Any child who is currently enrolled in speech and language therapy and/or occupational therapy, individually, may be eligible for this group. The child’s current speech language pathologist or occupational therapist must recommend their client for this group in order for them to qualify. No diagnosis is excluded for enrollment for this group opportunity, however a medical script for speech and language therapy and/or occupational therapy is required.
